Firsthand Voices Terms of Service

Effective November 3, 2026. Firsthand Voices is an independent introduction-request service operated by K12 Assist LLC. These terms apply to its consumer-request and volunteer-introduction activities, not to separate paid products linked from our site, which may have their own terms.

Independent introductions

A prospective consumer can ask to be introduced by text to a willing current customer, member, resident, student, parent or other person who has firsthand experience with a selected organization. An organization appearing on the site or in a request does not necessarily participate in or endorse Firsthand Voices. We may ask the organization to help identify a volunteer. We do not guarantee that the organization will respond, that a volunteer will be available or that a conversation will take place. If we cannot arrange an introduction, we may close the request and stop accepting additional requests for that organization until arrangements improve.

Information and opinions

Volunteers speak from their own experiences. Their statements are not official representations or assurances by Firsthand Voices or an organization. Users must independently evaluate important decisions, pricing, availability, eligibility and other details with the organization. Firsthand Voices does not verify or guarantee the accuracy or completeness of statements in conversations. Conversations are not professional medical, legal or financial advice.

Your responsibilities

Provide accurate information and only a mobile number you are authorized to use. Request introductions for genuine personal research; do not impersonate others, spam, harass participants, solicit unrelated business, attempt to circumvent messaging privacy, share confidential records or submit material that is unlawful or harmful. Volunteers should share only experiences they are comfortable discussing and must not disclose others' private information.

SMS messaging and consent

A text-based introduction requires explicit SMS consent on the applicable form. Messages may concern phone confirmation, volunteer invitations, matching, conversation coordination, relayed participant texts, reminders and conversation closeout. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. SMS consent is not a condition of purchasing goods or services, but opting out may end a text conversation or request. Our standard sending window is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time; queued messages may be delivered at the next permitted time. More information appears in our SMS Program Details.

Privacy and conversation records

Firsthand Voices uses relay messaging to avoid directly providing participants' mobile numbers to one another. Under our demand-first service, we do not supply an organization with a consumer's unmasked mobile number or complete email address in organization-facing communications and reports. With applicable consent, an organization may receive a privacy-protected transcript, outcome details and information the consumer voluntarily submitted about their interests. Anything you choose to type during a text conversation may be read by the other participant and may appear in that transcript. Availability and safety

We may restrict, suspend or close requests and conversations to protect participants, address misuse, observe communications rules or manage volunteer availability. Conversations may automatically close following 12 hours without activity; pending messages and local quiet hours may affect the timing of notices. We may change, pause or discontinue features as the service evolves.

Other products and services

The Firsthand Voices marketing site may link to independently operated offerings such as Ask-A-Current-Parent. Paid subscriptions, organizational customer accounts and any separate sharing practices are governed by the terms and policies shown for those products; they are not created by submitting a free Firsthand Voices introduction request.
